It would be rude of us not to mention the wonderful ‘wallhangings’ that adorn the walls of our dining room, kitchen and private lounge. We decided that instead of buying paintings to enhance the look of our rooms, we should go for something alternative whilst still promoting local art. We loved the look of the rugs which are displayed on the walls of the Ellishadder Art Café and asked our good friend, Maggie Quigley, if she would be able to design and weave some rugs for our downstairs rooms. Maggie offers a full bespoke service and she immediately began work on designing the rugs after we had chosen the colours of wool which would best suit our own colour schemes. She even visited our house with samples of the coloured wool to ensure everything would be perfectly coordinated.

The quality of the finished products is amazing. Made from 100% lambswool, the wallhangings are unique and provide a ‘homely’ feeling to each room. Our guests often compliment Maggie’s work as soon as they enter the house. The Art Café is full of local treasures from paintings by local artists, including Maggie’s husband Stuart, to jewellery, and from scented candles to photographs by the talented Eva Zandman. Another string to Maggie’s bow is her beautiful bespoke cushions, examples of which can be seen in the photo of our lounge.
